Helping You Make The Tough Decisions

Being a pet owner and building a bond with a four-legged friend is often a life-changing experience and it is devastating to see them suffer.

Sometimes, healthy recovery for old, sick or injured pets is not possible. As our pet’s family and caretakers it is our responsibility to consider all options to relieve our pet’s suffering. Whether this is palliative care or pet euthanisation, these decisions should not be taken lightly.

Quality of life is key. We know that for many pet owners, it is of great comfort to know that your furry friend is no longer suffering. To help pet owners make informed decisions, we are able to provide a gentle, competent assessment of your pet, informed by the latest in veterinary care and an understanding of all those involved. We assess all aspects of your pet including happiness, pain and potential treatment.

Compassionate Mobile Euthanasia For Your Pets

Say Goodbye in Comfort

Many families struggle with the idea of taking their pets to a clinic. For some, the thought of their pet’s last moments being in an unfamiliar and sterile environment is just too much. If you find yourself in this situation, at home pet euthanasia may be the best option for you and your pet. Surrounded by loved ones, having this procedure performed in the comfort of your own home is less painful for both your pet and family members during this painful time.

Private & Intimate

Without the need to drive or deal with other people during the experience, you are able to stay home during this difficult and traumatic time.

Comfortable For Your Pet

Allowing your pet to remain at home helps reduce the anxiety and fear they may feel during transport while ensuring they are not in pain.

Time Friendly

At home euthanasia removes the stress and worry about other patients in the waiting rooms, while giving you the time and space to say goodbye.

Informative

When we come to see you, we take the time to explain everything and provide you with answers to any questions you may have.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have another question? Get in touch with The House Call Vet today and our team of experts can assist.

No. Euthanasia is a humane and painless process for your companion and does not hurt. When administered, your pet will simply go to sleep and won’t feel any pain.

While many of our clients do stay with their pets during the procedure, we understand that this is an already difficult time and seeing the process can make it even harder.

If it is too much, you are able to leave your companion in the care of our team. With a passion and love for all pets, you can trust they will be in the best hands.

We are dedicated to providing the best, most gentle care for your companion until the very end. But, if you do wish to say goodbye once the process is complete, you can do so too.

Some pet owners prefer to have their other pets present during the euthanasia to allow them to say goodbye, while others may choose to keep them in another room to reduce stress.

If you choose to have them nearby, our team can guide you on how to ensure the experience is as calm and gentle as possible for everyone. Alternatively, arranging for a trusted friend, family member, or pet sitter to care for your other pets can allow you to focus on your pet in their final moments without distraction or worry.

The need for sedation during pet euthanasia depends on a number of factors, like your pet’s health, their behaviour, and more. In some cases, sedation may be recommended to ensure a calm and stress-free experience for your pet. But, we have also seen that a familiar face and some calming words can also help.

And, as animal lovers, we understand that prompt and effective care is crucial during these times of distress. We offer emergency veterinary care both at home and at our vet clinics.
